On Monday nights in summer, there's a party at the Royal Naval Dockyard and you're invited! The celebration takes place May 12 through October 13, from 7-11 p.m., and it's packed with fun-filled activities. Yes, Destination Dockyard is an event you won't soon forget. Start the adventure by taking a leisurely ferry ride to Dockyard. When you step off the ferry, you'll be greeted by local vendors displaying their crafts and sharing their many talents — not to mention great food. The festival atmosphere is enhanced by a variety of weekly local and international entertainment. Bermuda's very own Gombeys perform a traditional dance to the beat of the rhythmic drums in their colourful costumes.
Visit the many retail stores within the Clocktower Mall, which stay open late for your shopping convenience. The Craft Market is a must-see, with all its original Bermuda-made items. Many of the surrounding businesses have specials every Monday night. The Snorkel Park offers live entertainment, the Frog & Onion, Rum Cake Factory, and Craft Market offer free samples of local food and drinks, and Dockyard Glassworks features free demonstrations. There are a wide variety of activities for children, such as go-karts, fun castles, face painting, hair braiding, airbrush tattoos and much more. Mark your calendar and join in the fun!
Getting there: There is a special 7 p.m. ferry departure from Hamilton to Dockyard for those attending the event, in addition to the usual Hamilton to Dockyard ferry schedule. The return ferries from Dockyard to Hamilton depart every hour until 11:30 p.m. There is also a minibus service from 11:30 p.m.-2 a.m., which will take passengers to the West End hotels and Hamilton.
